Sincere thanks to all those listed below (and hosts of other well-wishers too
numerous to mention individually) for their enthusiastic support for
O.U.M.F’s initiative to facilitate and train Oxford students in practical engineering through ‘hands on’, logged
involvement in its most glamorous and attractive aspect - motor sport.
These high-achieving young men and women are not only the rising stars
of what remains of the British engineering industry, but will be the
future supporters, financiers, legislators – & defenders - of
historic motorsport in 10, 20, 30 years time.
This is why O.U.M.F needs your enthusiastic encouragement now, to
plant the seed of a life-long interest that will get them, and keep
them, involved.
O.U.M.F is an entirely independent student initiative - so not
government or university funded - and so can only carry on its work
with your continued support and help – from your time, skill, advice,
or offers to speak at fund-raising events…to student work placement
opportunities, or gifts of product to use or raffle…to teaching aids,
tools, invitations to your events - or simply (but most usefully) by
financial donation. OUMF’s astonishing popular success this year means
it has totally outgrown its modest base already. It now urgently
solicits the assistance of a major benefactor(s) to obtain and equip
the training facility that can safely accommodate the numbers wanting
to be involved; we also seek patrons to endow the foundation in
perpetuity. Thus secured, it will become a vitally important
independent resource – not just to all students at Oxford
as an accessible, practical facility and academic institution, but to
industry too - for R&D, testing and the recruitment of
outstandingly intelligent and able personnel.
